The #1 Secret to Stop Others from Triggering Your Negative Emotion Buttons

Along my recent radio talk the host mentioned the challenges he faces when thanksgiving is knocking at his door.

Even if we love our parents and families, sometimes being too close can become a true challenge because they trigger our emotion buttons. Unfortunately the activated feelings aren’t always the ones that conjure a smile on our lips.

And suddenly there it was … the topic of this blog post:

“How can one enjoy the thanksgiving family reunion at its fullest, and be safe from emotional manipulations by others?”

The #1 secret to prevent others from triggering your negative emotion buttons is to become a movie star.

I am sure you enjoy watching movies as much as all of us do. Which are your favorite ones? Which characters would you like to play? Do you want to step into Nicole Kidman in the movie Australia? What about Meryl Streep in Out of Africa? Is it Helen Hunt struggling with a crazy Jack Nicholson in As Good As It Gets

Imagine taking your favorite role and acting on behalf of it. Could Jack Nicholson really trigger any of your personal, emotional buttons in a negative way? No! You would play your role and ENJOY the scenes. I know what you are going to say now: “Fanny, that’s just an illusion, that’s not reality!”

Did you ever see the movie “What the Bleep Do We Know?” Just to mention … I only buy DVDs of movies that transmit a mind-changing message, and this movie is definitively a MUST-have for everybody. The core message of the movie is based on the recent discoveries in quantum physics and explains that our reality doesn’t exist, that it is just an illusion.

There exist countless layers of “realities” and everybody is the main character in a personal, unique movie. Don’t take everything that happens in your “reality movie” seriously. In fact, you can enjoy the scenes even more than Meryl Streep or Nicole Kidman, as you don’t know what is going to happen! When you face challenging situations while celebrating thanksgiving with your family, act like a pro and play the role of your life with fun and ease.
